A warm welcome to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR. I am confident that the breadth and depth of courses at SHSS will have a defining impact on you and your careers for at least two reasons, if not more. One, the range of disciplines that make up the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is vast. These include Economics, Sociology, International Relations & Governance Studies, History, English, Communications, Design and Art and Performing Arts. Besides, Water Science and Policy, is offered from the Centre of Public Affairs and Critical Theory (C-PACT) that is part of SHSS. There is an exciting array of courses to choose from based on what best suits your interest, without sacrificing depth in your chosen specialisation. Two, the classroom experience will be unparalleled because of the quality of the instruction you will receive.
All schools in Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR, and there are five in all, are research-focused and student-centric with the built in flexibility for students to take courses across schools. Multidisciplinarity in Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR is not merely tokenism, but manifests itself in the philosophy that inspires teaching and research. Students majoring in other disciplines can earn Minor degrees in English, Communication, Political Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, International Relations, Dance Studies, History, Archaeology and Design.
SHSS offers undergraduate and graduate courses in various disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences. These are Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance, Sociology, International Relations, History, English, Economics. In addition, Master’s degree is offered in Design, Water Science and Policy, Economics, Fine Arts, and English. Currently Ph.D. is offered in Sociology, International Relations and Governance Studies, Economics, History and English. We are planning to widen the scope of our Doctoral program soon. Diploma and Certificate programs are offered by C-PACT in the area of Water Science and Policy.
SHSS equips students with analytical tools to become thinkers and innovators, firmly grounded in the local context. Several opportunities to engage as interns and researchers are available to students to explore options to contribute and learn-by-doing in the larger community that exists around the Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR Campus. The presence of several sporting activities and student led clubs in the beautifully curated and sprawling campus allows interaction with other students and faculty outside the classroom resulting in all round personality development.
